Eun Nim Ro is an artist who has courageously left behind the familiar and successfully found a new dynamic voice in painting through her keen perceptions and deep examination of the natural world. The ever-constant flux and changes she observes in plants, animals and people have taken her expressive efforts to a level of confrontation, acceptance and creation which are both fiercely independent and vibrant. Ms. Ro, who left her native South Korea in 1970 in a quest to find her own sense of freedom, has been living and working in Germany for decades. The work is astonishingly original. Her intensely focused vision, informed by an animistic and primal spirit, is both delightful and engaging. The artist’s interpretation of the natural world is colorful, truthful, filled with a sense of wonder, and at times, even ominous. Her distinctive style of painting at times has its roots in “primitive” art, but her powers of observation and a highly honed level of fanciful interpretation of the world and its quotidian newness have enabled her to work independently from any specific set of parameters. The world is reanimated in Ms. Ro’s paintings which are spontaneous and pulsate through an exciting dialogue with the sensate world. Each work is a testament to her dedication to an understanding of the continuous possibilities of transformation. Eun Nim Ro is a highly skilled and successful artist who has had numerous critically acclaimed solo exhibitions and group shows world-wide. She has had important public architectural commissions, her works have been displayed in public spaces and are in both museum and private collections in Europe, Asia and America.
