John Molloy Gallery is pleased to present Views on The Road: Capturing Land and Light, an exhibition featuring recent works by Georgia Hupfel and her father, Mott Hupfel. Curated by Anna Molloy, the show brings together two distinct yet interconnected artistic perspectives. Though based in New York City, both Georgia and Mott have created these bodies of work inspired by their travels in Maine, the South West of the United States, and Uruguay.
Georgia’s vibrant paintings, some incorporating photographic elements, were produced following her two month road trip across the United States, depicting the vastness of the landscape as well as intimate personal moments. Mott Hupfel’s evocative photographs were taken during trips to Marfa, Texas, and Garzón, Uruguay. With over 25 years of experience as a cinematographer, Mott’s cinematic eye has deeply influenced his approach to photography, allowing him to frame each shot with a storyteller’s precision. Georgia has absorbed her father’s attention to details and dramatic use of light, a quality reflected in both her paintings and photographs.
The exhibition will be on view at John Molloy Gallery until March 8, 2025.
